National Mission Statement
To encourage our members to provide support to victims of domestic violence through auspices of agencies providing services to victims and to assist in the development and implementation of educational programs and hands-on activities designed to eliminate domestic violence.
SAAFE House
SAAFE House is a non-profit agency that offers help to individuals who are escaping violence, such as domestic abuse, or individuals who have been sexually abused The offer a comprehensive and compassionate continuum of services, providing support and resources for survivors to create independent lives, free of violence, for themselves and their families. Their ultimate goal is to create a community that is full of peace and safety for all.
We hold a Hugs and Pampers drive that is held at the various stores in Huntsville.We give a list to the customers and ask them if they would purchase an item to donate. The list includes toilet paper,shampoo,diapers,toothbrushes, and any necessary everyday items.
AXO Softball Tournament
Softball Tournament
This year we hosted our 2nd annual softball tournament that supports the SAAFE house. We have different sororities and fraternities or just groups on campus sign up to play against each other. Each Alpha Chi is given a certain amount that they have to get in donations from any company or family. This year Buffalo Wild Wings in Conroe co- sponsored the tournament by donation $ 500 and food for the players. It is an all day tournament and it is a fun way to spread awareness about domestic violence.
Every fall semester, Alpha Chi has an annual Luminary during the month of October (Domestic Violence month). We encourage everyone to come out and support AWARENESS FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.
Luminary will be held on October 14, 2009 from 7-9 pm at Austin Hall.
